PC Sales Fall Sharply in Latest Quarter, Hit by Logistical Challenges

Personal-computer shipments fell in the first quarter as production and logistical challenges offset higher demand, driven by remote work and school orders in response to the coronavirus pandemic, according to preliminary data from two industry research firms.

Gartner Inc. on Monday said global PC shipments fell 12.3% to 51.6 million units, the steepest decline since 2013. In the U.S., however, it saw a slight increase from a year earlier, but a 30.2% drop from the previous quarter.
