U.S.-China Rivalry Pushes Rise in World-Wide Military Spending, Report Finds


MUNICH—Global competition between the U.S. and China is spurring countries around the world to increase their military spending, according to a new report by an international think tank that reported the biggest increase in more than a decade.

Defense spending globally rose by 4% in 2019 over the previous year,  amounting to the highest yearly increase in 10 years, according to the report, published Friday by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies.
