How J. Crew’s Ludlow Suit Changed the Way We Dressed


IN 2008, J. Crew introduced the Ludlow suit, a slim-fitting and affordable piece of tailoring—more palatable than the seriously sucked-in suits haute fashion houses like Thom Browne and Saint Laurent were pushing at the time. The Ludlow let men appear of-the-moment, but not lost in it. No matter what you did in it, “you’re going to look good,” said Evan Parker, 37, of the narrow suit’s initial appeal. Mr. Parker, the San Francisco-based general manager of sports media site the Athletic, bought his first Ludlow the year it came out.
